Carmanah has workplace safety systems and programs in place and expects our suppliers to have the same policies in place. We regularly visit our factories and suppliers. Safety is audited and is always part of the discussion.
Environmental sustainability is a key priority in how we do business. Carmanah is committed to positively impacting our communities and our planet. We continue to reduce our footprint and improve our supply chain.
We give high priority to sustainability across all areas of our business, from product design and logistics to production and operations. Environmentally, our digital signage eliminates the need for a lot of paper POS and the related distribution and transportation costs to get the paper POS to retail.
Our program is based on our “why” as members of the community and “how” we can - on a local, national, and global basis - both promote and exceed our goals for sustainable corporate responsibility. From our deep participation in charity organizations each year through our solar, geothermal, wind energy, and environmental responsibility programs, we focus on constant improvement and measure our progress against both our industry and our prior year results to drive accountability in our actions.
Our Jackpot Sign products are designed with recycling in mind – almost every component can be recycled. Our products and packaging will continue to be recycled, recyclable, or reusable wherever possible. We will identify viable options for renewable resources and minimize emissions.

Environmental & Production Initiatives
Carmanah’s parent company, STRATACACHE, implements practices to reduce waste in its operations by 12% per year, including recycling programs and responsible disposal of electronic waste. In each of the past three years, STRATACACHE has reduced fossil fuel consumption by 18% and increased material recycling output by 120% across the term. STRATACACHE develops energy-efficient digital signage solutions to minimize the environmental impact. This includes optimizing power consumption of its products and promoting the use of environmentally friendly materials.
STRATACACHE continues to invest heavily in the development of ultra efficient MicroLED displays, reducing carbon emissions with dramatically lower carbon footprint display systems. STRATACACHE is developing and optimizing sensors for active area use vs. pause of systems when customers are not present to save electricity. STRATACACHE also uses AI for predictive analytics to determine optimal site design and engagement methodology for technology.
STRATACACHE spends over $20MM USD per year on research and development. In the past 2 years, STRATACACHE’s significant advances in computer vision (for smart shelf technology), content delivery (for retail WiFi media delivery), and intelligent media targeting (for analytics-driven advertising and merchandising systems) have helped our customers address inventory and merchandising accuracy.
Carmanah recycles as much waste as possible in the production of Jackpot Signs. This includes plastics, metals, electronics, cardboard, and paper. These are all recycled through certified companies. Carmanah also arranges the recycle of consumer electronics on behalf of Carmanah employees and friends.
Carmanah always attempts to use materials that are made of safe and recyclable materials. Where possible, Carmanah will always use materials that are recyclable.
Carmanah sources locally produced parts in both our Calgary and China factories, supporting small or medium sized enterprises when possible.
As an early adopter of LEDs (in 1997), Carmanah ensures its products are designed to operate on the minimum amount of power necessary while meeting brightness specifications. Power supplies used are always Energy Star rated.
Carmanah uses state of the art software to layout materials that require cutting. Layout is always managed to the highest efficiency. Carmanah will procure acrylic and metal inventory in the optimum sizes to ensure minimal wastage.
Packaging is designed specifically for the signs produced, minimizing wasted space, and improving shipping efficiency. Our packaging has gone through several audits and waste reduction improvements in the last decade in order to minimize packaging waste.
Effective packaging reduces shipping space and weight, therefore reducing the amount of fuel required for shipping. Carmanah’s manufacturing processes are refined to minimize travel, and where possible, local suppliers are used.
We are currently working on transitioning our Canadian head office and factory to 100% renewable electricity.
