Washington’s Lottery Opens “Department of Imagination” Store

Carmanah is thrilled to be part of the team bringing the new Washington’s Lottery “Department of Imagination” Store to life! Working with Washington’s Lottery, IGT, and Wunderman Thompson, Carmanah provided an Interactive Video Wall and Dual Screen Digital Menu Board for the modern retail store designed by Blake Jarrett & Co.

Digital Menu Boards, a proven source of player engagement and sales lift, are built into the wall of the retail store above and behind the point of sale. The Washington’s Lottery Dual Screen Digital Menu Board features side-by-side 55” displays with dynamically updated jackpot values, full screen video takeovers, and an optimized content layout based on current lottery digital signage best practices.

Across the store, the Interactive Video Wall lights up an entire wall with graphics and games. Created by Carmanah and sister-company Optika - another member of the STRATACACHE family - the Interactive Video Wall invites customers to play games, such as spinning a life-sized “Lucky Spin” wheel by waving their arm in front of the wheel. When not in use, the Interactive Video Wall displays passive video content.

A recent article by The Spokesman-Review describes the retail store as “an opportunity for Washington’s Lottery to grow its ‘Department of Imagination’ brand, potentially host regional promotions and engage with lottery players.”

“We had a regional office in Spokane for many years, but it has only been serving as a place where individuals can claim their prize. We have not had a space where we can engage with our players in a different way to provide more education about what the lottery does, who our profits benefit,” said Marcus Glasper, Director of Washington’s Lottery, in The Spokesman-Review article. Glasper also mentioned that the store would provide “an opportunity to learn what our players expect and what kind of games they would be interested in.”
